The Village of New Lexington will be conducting water distribution line and fire hydrant flushing starting Tuesday, July 12, 2016, and continue through Friday, July 22, 2016, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

The flushing is an important preventative maintenance program and is undertaken to remove mineral deposits and sediment from the water distribution system. Also as part of the process each fire hydrant is inspected and operated to verify that they are working properly for use in fire emergencies.

Residents may notice lower pressure and discoloration of their water during the flushing however this is temporary and poses no health risk.  Simply run your water for a short period of time until it clears up. Customers are advised to check their water for signs of discoloration prior to doing laundry.  If laundry does become stained from the water, keep the articles wet and re-wash them using a rust removing compound.  Do not use bleach on stained laundry as bleach will "set" the stain. Iron or rust removing laundry aids can be purchased at most grocery and hardware stores.

Please contact the Village Administrators Office @ 740-342-1633 should you have questions.  Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this operation.
